Filer built a five-run lead in the fourth inning then held off Homedales charge for a 7 to 6 victory on Saturday. Homedale put up five runs in the failed come back that was a do or die situation for Riley, Sophi amd Fallon.
Both offenses were strong at the plate as Filer collected 14 hits and Homedale seven in the high-scoring affair. In the first inning Homedale got their offense started when J hall grounded out scoring one.
Filer knotted the game up at 1 in the top of the second inning. The Wildcats scored on a stolen base during Kailey Brown at bat. Then Brown singled.Filer pulled away for good with four runs in the third inning. Sami Taylor tripled on a 0-1 count , scoring Marhi Carter. Sophi scored Sami on a Double. McCarty scored Sophi on a double and Fallon Cassidy scored McCarty on a single.
McCarty Stoddard was credited with the victory for filer. She went 2 and 1/3 Innings allowing one run on two hits and walking one. Taylor threw 2 2/3 innings in relief out of the bullpen. Striking out 2, walking two and allowing 5 runs.
The Wildcats scattered 14 hits in a game. Stoddard Cassidy Brown and Bartholomew each had multiple hits for filer. Cassidy and Stoddard had three hits to leave the Wildcats. Filer didn’t commit a single error in the field. Cassidy had five chances in the field the most on the team.
