Filer defeated Sugar-Salem 14 – 4 thanks to a timely eight run 6th inning. The offensive firepower by the Wildcats was led by Lexi Monson, Jaylee Bingham, and Sophia Bartholomew however Kailey Brown, Fallon Stoddard and Hannah Ruby also found ways to produce runs in the frame. Sugar knotted the game at 2 in the bottom of the first when Sydney Bradshaw doubled.
The Wildcats pulled away for good with two runs in the second inning. Samantha Taylor singled on the first pitch of her at bat scoring a run and Fallon Stoddard singled scoring Taylor later in the inning.
McCarty Stoddard got the start and earned the victory in the pitchers circle. She allowed 5 hits and three runs over three innings, striking out 2 and walking one. Taylor recorded the last six outs giving up 1 hit, allowing 1 earned run, striking out 2 and walking 2.
Maycee Pocock took the loss allowing 6 runs on 4 hits striking out 2.
The big inning saw singles by Sami, Sophi and Lexi, walks by Fallon Cassidy, Hannah Ruby, Marhi, bunts from Kaily and Lexi a fielders choice by Jo Boyer and doubles by Jaylee and Fallon Stoddard.
In all the lady cats racked up 12 hits on the day. Bingham, Monson, and Stoddard had multiple hits and Sami went. 3 for 3.
Sunny Bennion led Sugar with 2 hits in two at bats.
